That’s right, I used the dreaded “mani” term. Why? Because bad-ass travel gals like us don’t have time to type that shit out. Gel Mani’s will remain chip-free through the best parties, festivals, and surprise outdoors excursions to help you look a lot better than you might feel the next day. No more touch-ups at the hotel, no more tucking your digits in your sleeves. Wear it loud, wear it proud, wear it in through that hipster crowd. Rhyme time.
As I ponder the complexities of packing for a long trip to a (real) city I immediately move from excited to overwhelmed. How can I pack efficiently without sacrificing my salon-worthy style? Only 3 ounces eh? Hmmmm, my dry shampoo does NOT meet that requirement. Neither does my perfume, sunblock, or my beloved Unite Luxury Oil…. F#@$! After going over the “itinerary” of the weekend plans, I came up with the following prep list:
Get a Blow Out:
This may seem like an extravagant expense, but I’m telling you now it will save you the most space-in-your-case aaaaand the most time on your hair. I don’t travel to lose weight or save money so this little service only adds to the experience of the trip. A simple shampoo and style (provided by your favorite, local stylist) will help you look better, longer. The last 1.5 days can be salvaged with a little sea-spray and/or a top knot. Nothing says, “I’m too busy-yet classy for hair styling time” like a ballerina bun at the airport. All that extra hair oil should help keep the fly-aways in place too.
Sanitas Travel Kit:
A little shameless product promotion here but I could not care less. Sanitas is the skincare line that shines. NOTHING fakes sleep/hydration better than using quality goods on your face. The Vita-Rich Serum paired with the Moisture Mist actually brings my lack-luster skin back to life. It’s like watching real-time photoshop in the mirror in front of me.
Smashbox BB Cream:
Finally there’s a product out there that understands my makeup needs! This is your sunscreen, blemish control, and foundation in one sassy bottle. A whopping 1 fl. oz keeps you legit with TSA while maintaining that foxy face you know and love so well.
It’s important to always keep your health guard up on an airplane. Nobody likes the inevitable cold that lingers after a stint in the notorious trenches of coach. Try this little spray on your scarf and neck to keep the germs at bay and your immune system soaring. Also consider pocketing some Kick-Ass Immune Booster and a stash of Emergen-C. You can never be too careful with these things.
What’s left? Your duds, babe! Pack for a good time, a lounge time, and a solid-yet-stylish jacket to get you through it all. Flats, boots, and a few versatile accessories should help keep your carry-on from becoming a checked bag. All that’s left now? A killer playlist and your favorite enlightening (ahem) magazine. Oh yeah, bring a sleep mask and your ear buds just in case those layover cocktails get out of hand. It’s always best to be prepared.
