Did you get wiggy with us?
Then we want to thank you for helping us raise money for the local Boulder art scene! This year’s Wigout fundraiser was not only a blast for everyone involved, but a solid reaffirming of the sense of community in town. Boulder’s honorable and outlandish masses (dressed as pirates, ghosts, ghost-pirates and more) descended upon Boulder House bar and venue all in the name of good fun and beneficence.
Friend of Voodoo, DJ Davi-D, kicked off the night with his own special blend of popular music and electro. Decked out in various pirate wigs and attire were the rambunctious ska wonders The Alcapones. They really got the crowd going with their “folkadelic” brand of tunes! Throughout the opening performances, our friends at Moth Circus showcased their silky theatrics high above our heads on silks dangling from the rafters. Closing out the rowdy night of dancing was Mikey Thunder, who really blew the roof off with his powerhouse DJ skills. We tip our pirate hats to all of our brilliant performers.
As tradition, the Voodoo stylists put together a wig-themed fashion show laden with whimsical hair designs. Original and specially curated fashion attire was designed by Rebellelion and ReMade by Missy.
We would like to thank everyone who attended Wigout VI: Ghost Ship. We would like to announce that we have raised $1,426.95 for madelife ! This money will benefit not just one, but two artists currently enrolled in the Creative Accelerator Program. Says the wonderful people at madelife “Our plan is to use sections of the donations to provide discounted Accelerator Programs to interested creators who deserve to be in our program. Money should never come in the way of embracing creativity, so these funds are a godsend for two particular interested Accelerants right now. One example is a young photographer, Danny, who we are now able to make her program more affordable as well as arrange for her to receive mentorship with true titans of the photography industry.”
We are honored to be able to give back to the Boulder community every year. We have even begun planning for next year’s Wigout bash, which we hope will be bigger than this year!
Stay tuned, Voodoo dolls!
