DIY Beard trimming like a pro

Tips for beard trimming like a pro

As a man, you have to do a lot to maintain your appearance. Gone are the days of rolling out of bed without a glance in the mirror, and letting that beard of yours grow wild and rampant. The groomed look is definitely in these days. Even if you are going for the burly, mountain-man look that is so popular with today’s men of Boulder, you still need to work on maintenance. After all, your beard is a crown…but for your face. Trust the professionals at Voodoo Hair Lounge. Our barbers and stylists work tirelessly to bring you the latest trends in male grooming. Use these tips for the care of your “scruff”.

1. Schedule a time for beard trims Just like the hair on your head, your beard needs to be maintained every few weeks or so. Your favorite Voodoo stylist can help you keep your beard in line. Beard trim appointments are just 15 minutes long. Just call us, put it on the books, and your “crumb catcher” will be ready to roll.

2. Cleanse, condition and moisturize! Do you wet your facial hair down with water and call it a day? Not so fast! Your beard needs to be shampooed and conditioned. Naturally, beard hair is coarse and wiry (much more so than the hair on your head)., so if you long for an irresistibly soft beard, you have to use the right products. 7Seconds Leave-In Conditioner from UNITE is a great product that can be used to condition your beard. Use the 7Seconds to moisturize the skin underneath, which will improve the overall feel and look of your “chin sweater”, and fight the dreaded in-grown hairs resulting from razor burn.

3. At home maintenance…to trim, or not to trim? Sometimes life gets in the way, and you don’t have time to stop in for a beard trim. We get it, it happens to the best of us. So what should you do? If you feel handy with a pair of clippers, then by all means go for it! Trimming your beard at home can be a quick solution for pesky strays hairs or a misshapen “Abe Lincoln”. We recommend using a clipper with the correct guard in place to ensure you don’t accidentally cut off too much length. Yes, hair does grow back, but try to avoid losing too much of those bristles you’ve worked so hard for. Of course, if you don’t feel comfortable trimming your own beard then see point #1. We’ve got your beard’s back.

The stylists at Voodoo hope these tips helped you in your pursuit of bearded glory.

Remember, the art of manliness is rooted in care and maintenance of your beloved “facial foliage”; you can achieve the beard of your dreams!
