BOULDER HAIR SALON HELPS LOCAL GALS TO “LOOK GOOD FEEL BETTER” WITH THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETYY

In the grand scheme of important day-to-day life, features such as eyebrows and eyelashes may seem frivolous at best; an afterthought to be filed away with other non-issues. However, when suddenly denied such seemingly commonplace traits after undergoing rounds of chemotherapy these features become startlingly absent and very important. Hair and defining facial attributes play a surprisingly vital role in self identity and their loss can certainly affect confidence and self esteem.

Luckily, a program by the name of “Look Good Feel Better” was developed in 1989 by the Personal Care Products Council Foundation to step up and help patients undergoing treatment for cancer look good and therefore, feel better. Patients sign up for the program and licensed volunteers from the beauty industry lead classes to help develop an understanding of cosmetics to help manage appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. Each patient is supplied with a kit stocked with cosmetic items provided by various participating beauty brands. Every item is discussed at length and demonstrated by the volunteer instructor. Look Good Feel Better group programs are open to all women with cancer who are undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, or other forms of treatment. In the United States alone, more than 850,000 women have participated in the program, which now offers 15,400 group workshops nationwide in more than 2,500 locations.

Voodoo Hair Lounge is proud to support the organization with a team of stellar, participating stylists. Please visit their website www.lookgoodfeelbetter.org for more information on how you can help.
