It's Festival Season at Boulder Hair Salon and lots of braids

Tis the Season…Festival Season at Voodoo Hair Lounge

Rhinestones, gems, glitter, sunshine attire and…. Braids? Yep, that’s right, braids. The essential to any festival hair style. It seems that the braid never really goes out of style, but trends into different and more elaborate twists throughout the ongoing summers. From fishtails at Bonnaroo, frenchy’s with flower crowns at Coachella, to colorful dreadlock extensions in the desert at Burning Man; braids can transform a simple ‘do to a whole new “festival you.” Some festival goers have it down, while others just need an extra pair of hands!

We all know the classic feather extensions and temporary hair colors, but how do we stay current with the ever changing trends?

Well, that’s where the Voodoo crew comes in! Our team pours themselves into the most current trends with the help of the carefully selected brands that we stand behind; Kevin Murphy, Wella, and Unite. These brands send their best educators to us to educate and inspire right here at Voodoo whether it be creative coloring trends, the most up-to-date cuts, or most recently, braids! Kevin Murphy sent the incredibly talented Sarah Lund to Voodoo in April for their amazing braid.me class just in time for festy season!

Amazing education coupled with an already talented team means Voodoo is always “in the know.” This year we are seeing colorful eyeshadow, glossy cheeks and lids, light lip pops, and a unique twist on hair. Some things we have started to notice are the funky “down the middle braid” and split french braids. The creative color trend is also a whole new ball game for 2018, whether it’s painting some rose gold onto blonde, or going FUSCHIA all over (not just fuschia)! We can also thank Queen Bey for the “woke up like this” style; a year round look achieved by the help of Bedroom Hair by Kevin Murphy, which can be updated for festival attire by adding a simple braid that falls behind the ear, or a pair of big costume earrings for a real statement.

The biggest key to festival hair and attire is accessorizing; which is all about recycled materials in 2018! A fun way to do this, and be environmentally conscious, is finding jewelry and clothing at second hand stores. So, stop by Voodoo Hair Lounge in Boulder, Co to get your festival style on, and pop on over to Buffalo Exchange or Crossroads to accessorize like the eco-conscious festy princess that you are!
