VooDoo Hair Lounge introduction to Boulder Colorado in the Fall

Voodoo Hair Lounge: intro guide to Boulder in the Fall

Autumn in Boulder is a time for crisp, cool evenings, warm apple cider and the bustling sounds of CU Football games! It’s a time when the city comes back to life after a summer hiatus. We would like to welcome all students back to CU for the 2017 fall semester!

However, if this is your first year in Boulder, then we’ve got some exciting news for you: you’re in a magical place! There is so much to see and do in Boulder, but just in case you still need to get your bearings, we’ve put together for you a handy little guide to Boulder.

Hike the Flatirons

What’s more iconic than the Flatirons? Hmm…pretty much nothing else! Hike to the top of each flatiron for some serious Boulder bragging rights.

Chauatauqua Park

Ok, we spoke too soon. Chauatauqua Park, with it’s rolling meadows of wildflowers is an extremely iconic Boulder landmark. It is one of the few such continuously operating Chautauquas remaining in the United States, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2006

Flagstaff Mountain view

More of a car “hiker”? The view from Flagstaff Mountain is pretty sweet, too, and it is best accessible by car.

National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR)

Ever wonder what that mysterious building is that sits atop Table Mountain? That would be the National Center for Atmospheric Research (or “NCAR”, as the locals say) where scientists study weather-related phenomena such as ozone depletion and the greenhouse effect. On a free guided tour, you can see some of the tools used to conduct experiments, like weather balloons, satellites and even robots.

Pearl Street Mall

Boulder’s beautiful pedestrian mall offers up everything from couture clothing to crystal and sage-adorned shop fronts. Street performers flock to every corner, breathing fire and tossing banter into the weekend crowds. Pearl Street also plays host to some of Boulder’s best festivals, including the upcoming Fall Fest (September 15-17). Pearl Street truly is the heart of Boulder. (Fun fact: the very first Voodoo Hair Lounge was located on the Pearl Street Mall!)

The Boulder Theater

The historic Boulder Theater has been a stage for music and film since 1906. Take in a little local history while you’re enjoying a show!

The Hill

The one and only, and THE place to be (when you’re not in class, of course), the Hill offers a wider variety of restaurants, shops and music venues. Show some love for local, independent business!

The Fox Theatre

Located on the Hill, The Fox Theatre is a classic Boulder entity; a music venue with a wide range of talents traveling through here almost nightly. We certainly dig it!

Fiske Planetarium

So science. Much stars. So dreamy. The best place for an evening of educational stargazing and fun.

Dairy Arts Center

A former milk plant, turned performing arts center and local Boulder gem. The Dairy is a unique venue for performances, special events, gallery exhibitions, films, and lectures, and houses Boulder’s premier ballet and music schools.

The Rayback Collective

Food. Drinks. Art. Live Music. Community. Everything the city of Boulder is about. Oh, and did we mention they have a beautiful beer garden, rotating food trucks and a tap room featuring our friends at Rowdy Mermaid Kombucha?! You are doing yourself a disservice if you haven’t sampled the delights of Rayback Collective yet!

Of course there are so many other amazing places in Boulder that we haven’t mentioned…yet! So this is our challenge to you: go out and discover this city. You will find so many unique offerings for every personality and walk of life. Enjoy, and stop by and say hi to all of us at Voodoo. Go Buffs!
